Summary

From New York Times bestselling authors Nelson DeMille and Alex DeMille, Blood Lines features the return of Special Agents Brodie and Taylor who are on the hunt for the cold-blooded murderer of one of their fellow agents。

Army Criminal Investigation Agents Scott Brodie and Maggie Taylor have been separated for five months following their last assignment, a dangerous mission in Venezuela to locate and detain an infamous Army deserter。 Now, in Berlin, they are reunited and tasked with investigating the murder of one of their CID Special Agent Harry Vance of the 5th MP Battalion, an accomplished counterterrorism agent who had been stationed in western Germany, and whose body was discovered in a city park in the heart of Berlin’s Arab refugee community。

The authorities suspect this is an act of Islamic terrorism, but Brodie and Taylor soon believe there is more to this case。 The reason for Vance’s presence in Berlin is unknown, and as Brodie and Taylor work to discover what the murder victim was doing in the days and weeks preceding his death, they become immersed in the many conflicts and contradictions of modern Germany—the Arab refugee crisis, the dark legacy of the Cold War and the Stasi secret police, and the imminent threats of a rising neo-Nazi movement。 At the same time, they are butting heads with the authorities—both German and American—and facing a possible threat from American intelligence agents who fear that Brodie and Taylor might have learned too much about US clandestine operations during their mission in Venezuela。

Ultimately, Brodie and Taylor realize that the murder of Harry Vance was merely the prelude to a much more sinister future event—unless they can unravel the mystery in time to stop it。

This was not my favorite Nelson Demille book and I have read them all。 I missed John Corey and his obnoxious character。 I know that Mr。 Demille went over the topwith John's language and sexual adventures, it but he was funny。 To me, this book was draggy, but good overall。 This was not my favorite Nelson Demille book and I have read them all。 I missed John Corey and his obnoxious character。 I know that Mr。 Demille went over the topwith John's language and sexual adventures, it but he was funny。 To me, this book was draggy, but good overall。 。。。more

Always fun! Action, interesting characters and locations, too close to possible。

I am a big fan of DeMille - father & son。 This is not a great book, or even a "very" good book。 It is (merely) a good book。 Missing is the classic DeMille humor that sets up a joke fifty pages in advance and makes me belly laugh。 That said, Blood Line is worth reading。 The characters remain real, meaning smart and reckless。 I hope to read more about agents Brodie and Taylor。 And I wouldn't complain if they teamed up with John Corey (wittingly or not) on their next adventure。 I am a big fan of DeMille - father & son。 This is not a great book, or even a "very" good book。 It is (merely) a good book。 Missing is the classic DeMille humor that sets up a joke fifty pages in advance and makes me belly laugh。 That said, Blood Line is worth reading。 The characters remain real, meaning smart and reckless。 I hope to read more about agents Brodie and Taylor。 And I wouldn't complain if they teamed up with John Corey (wittingly or not) on their next adventure。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I love these two。 They are such perfectly formed characters and such a brilliant team。 And the dialogue and the inner workings of the alpha male mind is hysterical。 If this book was co-written by two people, it certainly seemed seamless to me。 The plot is very scary, as the possibilities seem quite true to life。 I hope there are more books in this series to come。 Well done, DeMilles, as usual!!!

Nazis reduxDeMille creates a travelogue through Berlin in a frantic search for Nazis with deadly toxins。 Scott Brodie and his loyal side kick Maggie Taylor perform miracles and manage to survive a deadly and twisted attempt to retake free Berlin and reimpose a Cold War East Berlin government。 This is a turgid story most unlike his lively writing style。 But I enjoyed it and look forward to this duo returning to the Army fold。

From the first page this book grabs and tugs the reader to keep going。 I had to make myself put it down so I didn’t read it all at once! Not one wasted word much less sentence in the entire story!

This is a voluntary review for a complimentary ARC kindly provided by NetGalley and the author/publisher。Being a huge fan of The Lion’s Game and many other books from this author, I had great hopes for this one but can’t say it delivered for me。 The writing has moments of cringe-worthy events that unfortunately should’ve evolved with the times a little。 I think the history bogged down the reading for me as it was just not interesting to me but others will no doubt enjoy it。

Excellent book as usual I liked this book because it was set in Berlin post Cold War。 Mr DeMille deftly wove together historical detail with a political thriller into a book。 That might not make much sense。 This book does。 Read it and enjoy!

4/5。 Another good mystery novel with a number of twists and turns。 Very slow-developing, but probably realistic as the protagonists don’t even know what they are involved with for much of it。 The writing does get somewhat verbose in parts。 This book is part of a series that should be read in order。

I received an Advanced Reader copy of this book, through the Goodreads free book offer。 Nelson DeMille is one of my favorite authors, and this book did nit disappoint。 The plot was complex, but the writing made it easy to follow。 Scott and Maggie as partners again was great, and the other characters introduced along the way helped the storyline build to a crescendo。 The book kept my attention through all 495 pages- not one “slow” or dull page。 Highly recommend this book!

Good story, complex, long book that kept moving along。Second book with Army investigators Scott Brodie and Maggie Taylor。Action takes place in Germany。

Another hit from DeMille (and his son)。 His last 3+ books were a bit stale and I was worried he lost his MoJo- but no, he is back here in classic DeMille fashion。 Great story- compelling investigation by Brodie and Taylor in Germany, a country DeMille hasn't covered。 Complicated story but easy to follow (unlike the Deserter)。 Action packed with a thrilling storyline and mystery about a hunt for a German/American double agent, traitor and killer, coupled with complexities of Germany history and i Another hit from DeMille (and his son)。 His last 3+ books were a bit stale and I was worried he lost his MoJo- but no, he is back here in classic DeMille fashion。 Great story- compelling investigation by Brodie and Taylor in Germany, a country DeMille hasn't covered。 Complicated story but easy to follow (unlike the Deserter)。 Action packed with a thrilling storyline and mystery about a hunt for a German/American double agent, traitor and killer, coupled with complexities of Germany history and immigration。 Of course that includes inter-agency competition (CIA vs FBI vs State vs army) that is typical of DeMille。 I was encouraged that this is one if the rare DeMille books where the villain isn't Arab/Muslim (think Upcountry) and the 2 main characters aren't sleeping with each other。 a must read and I hope to see more from the Brodie & Taylor series。 。。。more

I've read everything Nelson DeMille has written and "Blood Lines"does not disappoint。 Scott Brodie still thinks rules are for other people。 I enjoyed this book even more the first book in this series, "The Deserter" Lots of action, thrills and twists and I'll admit I didn't figure out "who dunit" until the reveal。 I've read everything Nelson DeMille has written and "Blood Lines"does not disappoint。 Scott Brodie still thinks rules are for other people。 I enjoyed this book even more the first book in this series, "The Deserter" Lots of action, thrills and twists and I'll admit I didn't figure out "who dunit" until the reveal。 。。。more

Good plot but the book dragged and seemed to have a lot of filler to add pages。 But the last 20% or was good。 Not just because there was more action but because it moved along。

Best DeMille book in a long time。 The team of Brodie and Taylor is re-united as they search Berlin for the killer of a colleague, and they keep uncovering layers of deceit and cover-up。 The last 100 pages go very quickly。

Scott and Maggie are now in Germany looking into the death of a colleague。 There are many twists and turns which make it a good read。 I do have to admit it was in my opinion not one of his better books, but still love DeMille’s work。

The sequel to “The Deserter” is much tighter and more compelling。 A classic Nelson DeMille murder thriller with a nuanced relationship between Scott Brodie and Maggie Taylor。What works is the setting, the overall plot, and the characterization of Brodie and Taylor。 They’re assigned to investigate the Berlin murder of CID investigator Harry Vance。 What starts out as a difficult case becomes Byzantine as multiple law-enforcement agencies fight for jurisdiction and the threat of terrorist attack lo The sequel to “The Deserter” is much tighter and more compelling。 A classic Nelson DeMille murder thriller with a nuanced relationship between Scott Brodie and Maggie Taylor。What works is the setting, the overall plot, and the characterization of Brodie and Taylor。 They’re assigned to investigate the Berlin murder of CID investigator Harry Vance。 What starts out as a difficult case becomes Byzantine as multiple law-enforcement agencies fight for jurisdiction and the threat of terrorist attack looms。Once again, the novel is too long, and “maverick” Brodie becomes a caricature。 On the other hand, the relationship between Brodie and Taylor gets more interesting。 。。。more

3 stars, worth another read later。

An entertaining story about a German plot to eliminate all non-aryan races by a selective bioweapon。 Good writing as always from NDM, very readable and believeable。

The Demilles provide a most exciting thriller in the second Brodie/Taylor Book。 New evil combine with the prejudices of the past to build another world damaging story that ends, well you know how they end。 Have fun and look for the great one liners typical of Demilles’ cynical protagonists。

A top shelf book! Suspenseful, well-written terrific story!

Father & son write and put the T in thriller。 A story that grabs a reader and keeps them in a grasp to the last word。 A long read it is and brings the ugliness of mankind to a brink。 It's fiction but will scare the daylights out of every reader。 Father & son write and put the T in thriller。 A story that grabs a reader and keeps them in a grasp to the last word。 A long read it is and brings the ugliness of mankind to a brink。 It's fiction but will scare the daylights out of every reader。 。。。more
